Overview

Traditional saree weavers in India face challenges with changing customer preferences and competition from machine looms, leading to mismatched supply and demand. Customers also have limited input in saree design. To address this, TCS CSR partnered with us to create a tech product empowering users to design custom sarees while connecting weavers directly with buyers. This project was showcased at Adobe Summit in Las Vegas, a custom saree designed on the software was woven for Adobe’s 40th anniversary. Blending Eastern and Western design elements and highlighting the power of collaboration.

Problem

The traditional saree weaving industry, especially in Kanchipuram, struggles to meet modern consumer demands. Weavers rely on guesswork, often leading to unsold inventory, while customers lack options for personalization, limited to store-bought designs. The disconnect between weavers, sellers, and buyers further complicates the ecosystem, as machine-made looms overshadow traditional craftsmanship. A solution was needed to connect weavers with customers, enabling personalized, on-demand saree design and preserving this heritage art form.

Mapping Journey

The primary goal of this project is to empower both customers and weavers through a tech-driven platform that allows personalized saree design while revitalizing traditional weaving methods.

08

Information Architecture

After gathering research insights and working on the journey map, Focus was shifted to structuring the information architecture (IA). The goal was to create a clear, intuitive flow for users to easily navigate the app without feeling overwhelmed. We began by organizing the key features and content based on user needs and priorities. By mapping out the primary tasks users would perform, ensured that the layout would guide them naturally from one action to the next. This process allowed us to establish a solid foundation for a user-friendly experience before moving on to wireframes and visual design.

09

Wireframes

After finalizing the Information architecture, team transitioned designing initial wireframes to quickly visualize the layout and structure. This approach allowed us to iterate on ideas and refine the user flow.
